The vestry is the legal representative of the parish with regard to all matters pertaining to corporate property and would considered the governing body for the church. There are nine vestry members, who each serve a 3-year term. The vestry members’ terms are staggered in groups of three. Each year in January, three members rotate off, and three new members are elected to take their places.
The responsibilities of the vestry include to help define and articulate the mission of the congregation; to support the church’s mission by word and deed; to select a rector; to ensure effective organization and planning; and to manage resources and finances.
We have two wardens. The senior warden supports the rector or priest-in-charge and otherwise leads the congregation. The junior warden, also known as the “people’s warden,” has responsibility for informing the congregation of important changes as well as, informally, for building and grounds.
